James Llewellin @ Samsons gym

A few weeks ago now, I had to go down to Samsons gym in Eastleigh, near Southampton to check out James Llewellin!! I wasn't too sure what to expect, as I've never just gone to check out a pro train, but it was a worthwhile experience.

As with anyone who earns a living doing their craft, you listen when they share their knowledge, and it was good to get a few tips on how to work different exercises into my routine, based on feel rather than regimented reps and sets and a pre-determined format. This is definitely something I've worked into my training already!
In opening the floor to questions, there was debate over the training routines set out in magazines and how over-training is often the cause for lack of growth in the average guy. This is true! Some of the mags set out crazy schedules which the pro's could only do, let alone the average natural guy!

I thought it was nice of James to cover bodybuilding from all angles, and tried to answer questions from all levels of trainers in the gym.

James revealed some of his gripes with things like brown rice and how he does things in terms of supplements. This was good to hear, knowing that someone of his level really finds what works for him, and sticks to that rather than what some sources say everybody should be doing. I took from this; find a good substitute for anything you don't get on with and roll with that, it will prove better in the long run!

In getting ready for the British Grand Prix James was in pretty good shape. He did a few pose shots and gave people a chance to check out what someone of that size looks like real close up. (Someone took a fancy to his calves, which are pretty huge to be fair).

Overall a good experience, and I'd make the most of any pro appearance in the future!!

Good luck at the British Grand Prix James!!
